UPTET is only a qualifying examination and does not have fixed vacancies. Candidates who qualify become eligible to apply for teaching posts when recruitment notifications are released separately by the concerned authorities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
UPTET Eligibility Criteria is prescribed by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board for two levels:
Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8). Candidates must fulfill educational qualifications and age-related conditions as specified.
For Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5), the candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (Class 12) or equivalent with at least fifty percent marks and must have passed or be appearing in a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). Candidates who have completed graduation along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible.
For Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8), the candidate must be a graduate and should have passed or be appearing in a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a one-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or a four-year BA or BSc Ed, or a one-year BEd (Special Education). Candidates with graduation and BEd qualification are commonly eligible for this level.
Regarding age criteria, there is no upper age limit prescribed for appearing in the UPTET examination. Any candidate who fulfills the educational qualifications can apply for the exam.
Candidates can apply for Paper I, Paper II, or both papers, depending on their eligibility. Qualifying the UPTET does not guarantee a teaching job but makes candidates eligible to apply for teaching posts in government and aided schools of Uttar Pradesh. According to recent announcements, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has been established as the new conducting body for the UPTET exam, taking over from the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). The UPTET 2025 exam, originally scheduled for January 29-30, 2026, has been postponed, with new dates to be announced soon. UPTET Registration for the upcoming cycle will start on the official website once the revised notification is released. The previous major UPTET cycle (2021-22) notification was released on October 4, 2021, with applications from October 7 to October 27, 2021, and the exam held on January 23, 2022 (postponed from November 28, 2021, due to a reported paper leak).

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board for the recruitment of teachers at the Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8). The official notification for UPTET was expected to be released earlier; however, the examination has been postponed, and no revised schedule has been announced so far.
