Vacancy Details
The total number of vacancies announced is 4,543, distributed across different categories and posts. For Sub-Inspector Civil Police (Male/Female), 4,242 posts are available, including 1,705 Unreserved, 422 EWS, 1,143 OBC, 890 SC, and 82 ST vacancies. For Platoon Commander PAC / Sub-Inspector Armed Police (Male only), there are 135 posts. For Special Security Force (SSF) Sub-Inspector (Male only), 60 posts have been announced. Additionally, 106 posts are available for Women Sub-Inspector in the Women Battalion.
Salary Structure
The UP Police Sub-Inspector post falls under Pay Band ā¹9,300ā34,800 with a Grade Pay of ā¹4,200 as per the 7th Pay Commission (Level 6). The starting basic salary is ā¹35,400 per month. After adding allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Travel Allowance (TA), the gross monthly salary ranges between ā¹43,000 and ā¹47,000. The in-hand salary is approximately ā¹35,000āā¹40,000, along with additional benefits and opportunities for promotion within the department.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be Indian citizens. Eligibility is also extended to Tibetan refugees who migrated to India before 1 January 1962 and persons of Indian origin who permanently settled in India after migrating from specified countries, subject to government approval. Applicants must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university. Additional requirements include Hindi typing speed of at least 25 words per minute (Unicode Inscript), English typing speed of 30 words per minute, Hindi shorthand at 80 words per minute, and an āOā Level computer certificate from NIELIT or an equivalent qualification. The age limit is 21 to 28 years as of 1 July 2025.
Exam Pattern
The written examination will be objective in nature and carry a total of 400 marks. It will consist of four sections, each containing 40 questions for 100 marks. The subjects include General Hindi, Constitution/General Knowledge, Numerical and Mental Ability, and Reasoning Ability.
Exam Syllabus
General Hindi includes grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and language usage. General Knowledge covers current affairs, Indian history, geography, economy, polity, science, technology, culture, and environment. Numerical and Mental Ability includes arithmetic topics such as percentage, ratio, profit and loss, averages, interest, time and work, data interpretation, and basic quantitative aptitude. Mental Aptitude and Reasoning focus on logical reasoning, decision-making, problem-solving, situational judgment, and basic law-and-order awareness.
Selection Process
The selection process begins with the written examination. Candidates who qualify are called for the Physical Standard Test (PST), where height, chest, and weight measurements are verified. Those who meet the standards proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which evaluates running ability and physical endurance. Qualified candidates then undergo document verification, followed by a medical examination. Final selection is based on overall performance and eligibility fulfillment.
How to Apply
Candidates must first complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the official UPPRPB website. After registration, they need to log in, fill the application form with personal and educational details, upload required documents such as photographs, certificates, and category proof, and pay the application fee online. The fee is ā¹500 for Unreserved, OBC, and EWS candidates, and ā¹400 for SC/ST candidates. After submission, a printout of the application form should be kept for future reference.
Exam Centers
The UPSI examination will be conducted in approximately 70 cities across Uttar Pradesh. Candidates can choose their preferred city during the application process; however, the final allotment is decided by the board and cannot be changed later. Major exam cities include Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Gorakhpur.
Admit Card
The admit card will be released a few weeks before the examination on the official website. Candidates must download it using their registration details and carry a printed copy along with a valid photo ID to the exam center. The admit card will contain important information such as exam date, time, venue, and instructions.
Exam Result
Results will be published on the official UPPRPB website after completion of the written exam and physical tests. Candidates can check their result by logging in with their registration details. The result will display marks obtained, qualifying status, and merit position if applicable. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the next stages of the selection process.

Eligibility Criteria

Selection Process
The selection process for the UP Police Sub-Inspector post is designed to evaluate both academic knowledge and physical fitness. It begins with the written examination conducted in offline mode. Candidates who qualify are called for the Physical Standard Test (PST), where measurements such as height, chest, and weight are verified according to prescribed standards.
After clearing PST, candidates must appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which includes running and other physical activities to assess stamina and endurance. Candidates who successfully qualify in PET proceed to the Document Verification stage, where educational and personal documents are checked. Finally, selected candidates must undergo a medical examination. Only those who meet all requirements at each stage are considered for final selection as Sub-Inspectors in the Uttar Pradesh Police.

EXAM PATTERN

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who clear the Physical Standard test will qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates have to cover a certain distance in a specific time period, details of which are mentioned below

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates willing to apply for UP POLICE SI exam are required to fulfill certain conditions to be eligible for the UP POLICE SIĀ exam. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification, Nationality, etc., shall be rejected by the authorities.
The candidateās eligibility for UP POLICE SIĀ exam is based on the fulfillment of the following conditions:-
Nationality
1. The candidate must be an Indian citizen
2. The Tibetian refugee who have migrated to India before January 01, 1962
3. Indian origin persons from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania who has now settled permanently in India.
Age Limit & Relaxation
The candidate should have attained the age of 21 years on 01-07-2025 and should not have attained the age of 28 years, i.e., the candidate’s date of birth should be before 02-07-1997 and after 01-07-2004.

Age relaxation is provided to the candidates who belong to the ST/SC category or as per the Government rules.
Educationl Qualification
For the UP Police SI 2025 recruitment, applicants must have a graduation degree from a university recognized by law in India or an equivalent qualification approved by the Government. They are also required to demonstrate typing skills with a minimum speed of 25 words per minute in Hindi (Unicode on Inscript keyboard) and 30 words per minute in English.
In addition, candidates should be able to take Hindi shorthand dictation at 80 words per minute, which will be evaluated for accuracy by UPPRPB. Passing the āOā Level Computer Examination from NIELIT or holding an equivalent government-recognized computer qualification is also mandatory.
Medical Standered
Apart from the above-mentioned criteria, candidates must ensure they have good and health for the post. Physical health is also checked by the doctors. Various tests are performed to check if the candidate has any ongoing medical treatment or disease. The body parts like knees, eyes are also checked by the official.
