SELECTION PROCESS

SELECTION PROCESS
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board conducts the recruitment for Constable posts (Advertisement No. PRPB-B (Constable PAC and Other Cadres) – 07/2025) through a multi-stage selection process. This includes mental ability testing via written exam, physical fitness checks, and verification stages.
Written Examination (First Qualifying Stage)
Offline OMR-based objective test.
150 questions | 300 marks | 2 hours duration.
Sections:Â General Hindi, General Knowledge, Numerical & Mental Ability, Mental Aptitude/IQ/Reasoning.
Negative marking: 0.5 marks (½ mark) per wrong answer.
Minimum qualifying marks (category-wise): General/Unreserved/EWS/OBC: Around 30-35% (exact as per notification; often 35% for UR).
SC/ST: Lower (around 20-25%).
Candidates who score above the cut-off qualify for the next stages. Merit is based on written exam marks for final selection.
Document Verification (DV)
Candidates shortlisted from the written exam are called for verification of original documents.
Includes: Educational certificates (10+2), category certificate (if applicable), age proof, domicile, photo ID, etc.
This stage is qualifying in nature — any discrepancy leads to disqualification.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT) / Physical Standard Test (PST)Â (Qualifying)
Conducted after DV (or sometimes combined).
For Male Candidates
Height: 168 cm (General/OBC/SC), 160 cm (ST).
Chest: 79-84 cm (General/OBC/SC), 77-82 cm (ST) with minimum 5 cm expansion.
For Female Candidates
Height: 152 cm (General/OBC/SC), 147 cm (ST).
Minimum weight: Usually 40-45 kg (as per rules).
Candidates who meet standards proceed to PET.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) / Running Test (Qualifying)
Male: 4.8 km race in maximum 25 minutes.
Female: 2.4 km race in maximum 14 minutes.
This is a qualifying test — no marks awarded, but failure disqualifies.
Medical Examination (Final Qualifying Stage)
Detailed medical check-up (eyesight, hearing, general health, no major disabilities).
Conducted by authorized medical board.
Candidates must be medically fit as per UP Police standards.
Final Merit List & Document/Character Verification
Final merit prepared based on written exam marks (only for those who qualify all previous stages).
Includes police verification/character certificate check.
Allocation to posts (Civil Police, PAC, Jail Warder, etc.) based on merit, preferences, and vacancies.
Note:
All physical tests (PMT/PET) and medical are qualifying — no marks added to merit.
The written exam is the deciding factor for merit ranking.
Total process is transparent and merit-based; no interview for Constable posts.
EXAM SYLLABUS
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has released the official syllabus for the 32,679 Constable posts (Advertisement No. PRPB-B 07/2025). The written examination syllabus remains the same as previous recruitments, covering four main sections in a single objective paper.
The level of the syllabus is generally Class 10–12 standard, with special emphasis on Uttar Pradesh-specific topics in General Knowledge, Hindi grammar, basic mathematics, and reasoning/aptitude related to police duties.

EXAM PATTERN
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has released the official notification (Advt. No. PRPB-B 07/2025) for 32,679 Constable posts (Civil Police, PAC, Jail Warder, etc.). The written exam remains the first stage of selection, and the pattern is consistent with previous recruitments (no major changes announced for 2026).
The UP Police Constable Exam will have 150 Questions with 300 Marks. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board hold exams in both English and Hindi every year. It is an Objective-Type Exam with a Duration of 2 Hours. Each Question will carry +2 marks each, There will be a Negative Marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.

Physical Efficiency test
After qualifying for the physical standard test candidates are eligible to appear for the physical efficiency test. To get selected for this post candidates have to clear this physical efficiency test. candidates are given a physical task like racing. To qualify those males and females have to achieve that in the below-given timings.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Only candidates belonging to the Indian Nationality can be Eligible to apply for this examination, They need to be of Indian Origin and be Indian Citizens to be Eligible.

The age limit for the UP Police Constable post is different for Male and Female applicants.
The age of Male candidates must fall between 18-22 years.
Female candidates should have the ages between 18-25 years.
