PROGRAMS OFFERED
Through MHT CET, candidates can secure admission to a wide range of undergraduate and integrated professional programmes offered across Maharashtra. The Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme is available in multiple engineering disciplines, including Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics, and other related branches. The Integrated BTech–MTech programme is a dual-degree course designed to provide both undergraduate and postgraduate engineering education in a single, continuous academic pathway.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) programme focuses on pharmaceutical sciences, covering areas such as drug formulation, manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory practices. The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) programme is a professionally oriented course with emphasis on clinical pharmacy, hospital training, patient care, and therapeutic practices.
The Bachelor of Planning (BPlan) programme deals with urban and regional planning, infrastructure development, town planning, public policy, and sustainable development concepts.
All these programmes are offered by Government, Government-aided, University-managed institutions and departments, as well as approved private professional institutes in Maharashtra. Admissions to these courses are carried out on the basis of MHT CET scores, followed by the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by the Maharashtra State CET Cell.
TOP COLLEGES & TOTAL SEATS
Some of the most reputed institutes in Maharashtra accept MHT CET scores for admission to engineering, pharmacy, and planning courses. These colleges are known for their academic quality, infrastructure, faculty, and placement records, and they admit students through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by the Maharashtra State CET Cell.
Among engineering institutes, College of Engineering Pune (COEP Technological University), VJTI Mumbai, Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE), Mumbai, Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, and Government College of Engineering (GCOE) Aurangabad and Amravati are considered top government institutions. These colleges together offer several thousand BTech and integrated BTech–MTech seats across core branches such as Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Electronics.
In the pharmacy segment, leading institutes include Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, Government College of Pharmacy, Mumbai, Poona College of Pharmacy, and other reputed government and aided colleges. These institutes offer BPharm and PharmD seats, with ICT Mumbai being one of the most sought-after institutions for pharmaceutical sciences in India.
For planning courses, top architecture and planning institutes in Maharashtra offer BPlan seats through MHT CET, though the number of seats is limited compared to engineering and pharmacy.
Overall, MHT CET offers admission to tens of thousands of seats every year across government, government-aided, university-managed, and approved private institutes in Maharashtra. The exact seat count varies each year based on approvals by regulatory bodies, and the final seat matrix is released officially by the CET Cell before CAP counselling. Admission to these top colleges is strictly based on MHT CET rank, category-wise merit, and seat availability during counselling rounds.

COUNSELLING PROCESS & CUTOFFS
After the MHT CET results are announced, the State CET Cell Maharashtra conducts the CAP (Centralised Admission Process) for admission to engineering (BE/BTech), pharmacy and other professional courses. The counselling begins with online registration, submission of documents and payment of the counselling fee. Eligible candidates then participate in choice filling and locking of preferred colleges and branches. The CET Cell releases a merit list and conducts multiple rounds of seat allotment (usually three CAP rounds). After each round, candidates who are allotted seats must pay fees and confirm admission to secure their seat. Cutoffs for each round are published as opening and closing ranks for different colleges and categories.
Last Year Cutoffs (2025)
In MHT CET 2025 counselling, the official CAP round cutoffs varied widely by college, branch and category. For example, in CAP Round 1 for engineering, closing ranks for some colleges were: Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering Shegaon’s Computer Science and Engineering around rank 15,312, Electronics and Telecommunication around rank 24,950 and Mechanical around rank 33,983 under All India quota. Less competitive branches and colleges had much higher closing ranks (above 50,000). Exact round?wise PDFs showing opening and closing ranks for 2025 were released by the CET Cell.
Data from specific colleges also shows 2025 closing ranks at some private institutes: at VIT Pune, Computer Engineering closed around rank 7,119 and other branches had varied closing ranks based on category and preference.
These ranks indicate where the cutoff roughly lay for various institutes during MHT CET 2025 counselling.
Expected Cutoffs for MHT CET 2026
Based on trends and expert analysis, the expected cutoffs for MHT CET 2026 will depend on overall performance, exam difficulty and seat availability. For general category candidates aiming for top colleges like College of Engineering Pune (COEP), VJTI Mumbai, PICT Pune or SPIT Mumbai, the expected cutoffs (in terms of percentile or marks) are generally very high. Safe target scores could be around 160 and above out of total marks, which roughly corresponds to 98–99+ percentile for top branches. Other good state colleges may have expected cutoffs in slightly lower ranges (for example 140–150 marks roughly corresponding to 96–98 percentile), while mid?tier colleges might have closing cutoffs in ranges that equate to around 90–96 percentile. Lower ranked colleges often have even wider rank ranges. These expected values are based on trends from 2024 and 2025 cutoffs and expert projections; actual cutoffs will be released by the CET Cell after counselling rounds in 2026.
In summary, counselling is an online CAP process with choices and seat allotment in rounds based on merit, and cutoffs in 2025 show that top institutes require extremely high ranks, while expected cutoffs for 2026 will likely follow similar patterns with slight changes based on performance and seats available.
