COUNSELLING PROCESS & CUTOFFS

LSAT has no centralized counselling; candidates apply directly to colleges, and admissions are offered based on LSAT percentile cut-offs and institute-level selection rounds.

LSAT (India) does not conduct centralized counselling. After the LSAT result is declared, candidates must apply individually to law colleges that accept LSAT scores. Each college releases its own merit list or shortlist based on LSAT scores. Shortlisted candidates may be called for interviews, writing tests, or document verification, depending on the institute. Final admission is offered by the respective college after completing its selection process.

Cut-offs

LSAT cut-offs are college-specific and are usually released in the form of percentile ranges, not fixed marks. Top law colleges generally have higher cut-offs, while other institutes have moderate cut-offs.

Top colleges (like Jindal Global Law School): 85–95+ percentile

Mid-tier private law colleges: 60–85 percentile

Other participating colleges: 50–60 percentile or above

Cut-offs may vary based on:

Number of applicants

Difficulty level of the exam

Number of available seats

Category and reservation policy

OVERVIEW

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a standardized test that is required for admission to law schools across US, Canada, and increasingly many other countries. It is a way of measuring the applicant’s verbal and reasoning abilities and serves as an important factor in law school admissions. The LSAT does not involve memorizing stuff; it is instead a test of critical thinking skills that one acquires over a lifetime. The idea behind the design of LSAT is to make it democratic and inclusive for all test-takers, as it does not discriminate students based on any specific field of study.
