GRE Examination 2024: Overview
The General Test and GRE Subject Tests are taken by individuals applying to graduate programs, including business and law. For more than 70 years, GRE scores have been used by admissions and fellowship panels at thousands of graduate programs around the world to supplement an applicant’s undergraduate grades and other qualifications for graduate study.

GRE 2024: How can apply
Candidate can follow several step to do registration for GRE exam :
STEP 1 – Go to the official ETS web portal.
STEP 2 – Create your GRE profile online. Candidates have to provide all vital information that may be useful at the time of admission or sending their scores
STEP 3 – Submit the application form for the GRE examination.
STEP 4 – Choose the testing date for the year and the nearest test center.
STEP 5 – Pay the registration charges of US$220. This is possible once candidates have been redirected to the gateway page for payment. They should check examination details carefully at this stage.
STEP 6 – Confirm and submit the GRE application.
STEP 7 – Take the printout and save the submission information for usage in the future. The candidate should carefully store the acknowledgement receipt.

GRE 2024: Admit Card
Once the applicant has successfully registered and logged in to the ETS-GRE website, he/she has to book the GRE Test by choosing the test centre and the desired test date according to their convenience and availability.
The applicant will receive a confirmation email to their registered email id as the acknowledgement of the completion of application form. This confirmation email by the ETS-GRE acts as the GRE Admit Card or call letter.
A GRE Admit Card contains the details of the personal information that the applicant has provided during the process of registration. This information should match with the details of the identification (ID) document (that is your valid passport). The admit card also contains the details about the test choice, test date, test centre and score recipients
GRE 2024: Result
GRE exam results are available over aspirants’ ETS accounts. When their scores are available, ETS will send them an email. The score recipients will also receive an official ‘Institution Score Report’ from ETS. GRE test scores can be viewed in two different ways:
- Unofficial scores
Students can choose to view an unofficial report of their GRE test at the test center. After taking the test at a test center, students are given the option to view their scores. They can then view their unofficial scores for the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning section but cannot view their Analytical Writing score.
- Official scores through ETS account
Students can create an online account on ETS.org to get their official scores. They will need to provide basic personal information like name, mailing address, and phone number. They will also need to create a username and password for their account. They will receive an email notifying them that their complete GRE scores are available through their ETS account 10-15 days after the computerized test. Students can also look for their scores five weeks after their test date if they took a paper-delivered test. They will get an email when their GRE scores are available which can be accessed through an ETS account.

Note that the application form should reach the center at least three weeks before choosing the earliest testing date for the GRE examination. A reporting time, confirmation number, and the address of the test center will be emailed, mailed, or faxed to you.
Via Phone:
You can call the RRC (Regional Registration Center) or Prometric at Gurgaon in Haryana. The phone number, in this case, is 91-124-4147700. The call should be made at least 2 business days prior to the chosen test date for the GRE. The confirmation number, address of the GRE test center, and reporting time will be intimated to you over the phone.
Via Fax:
Print out and complete the GRE application form for the year and dispatch the same at 91-124-4147773 with the registration charges for the examination. The authorities should receive the application form at least 7 days before the chosen test date.

GRADUATE RECORD TEST (GRE) SYLLABUS
The GRE General Test measures your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills — skills that have been developed over a long period of time and are not related to a specific field of study but are important for all.

Analytical Writing
The Analytical Writing section measures your ability to:

5. control the elements of standard written English
6. The Analytical Writing section requires you to provide focused responses based on the tasks presented, so you can accurately demonstrate your skill in directly responding to a task.
Verbal Reasoning
The Verbal Reasoning section measures your ability to:
1. analyze and draw conclusions from discourse; reason from incomplete data; identify author’s assumptions and/or perspective; understand multiple levels of meaning, such as literal, figurative and author’s intent
2. select important points; distinguish major from minor or irrelevant points; summarize text; understand the structure of a text
3. understand the meaning of individual words, sentences and entire texts; understand relationships among words and among concepts
Quantitative Reasoning
The Quantitative Reasoning section measures your ability to:
1. understand, interpret and analyze quantitative information
2. solve problems using mathematical models
3. apply basic skills and elementary concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis
4. The Quantitative Reasoning section includes an on-screen calculator.

GRADUATE RECORD TEST (GRE) ELIGIBILITY
GRE eligibility has to be followed strictly in terms of ID proof, and universities also have their pre-determined GRE eligibility which has to be followed by candidates. Here are the 9 GRE Eligibility criteria:

4. Restriction on Gap year after the undergraduate degree
5. Maximum number of attempts for GRE

9. Test center requirement
Criteria 1 – ID Requirement
For Indian Nationals, carrying a passport to the test center is essential for both GRE and GMAT.
Apart from carrying a passport to the test center, you require a valid ID proof while registering for the GRE exam. The same ID you need to carry to the test center. If you bring an invalid ID to the test center. For instance, You will not be eligible for the GRE if the first and last name on your ID doesn’t match with the name on your GRE application. Also, your test fee will not be refunded.
Criteria 2 – Age Restriction
There is no age limit specified by ETS to apply for GRE.
Criteria 3 – Qualification Requirement
Be it Arts, Science, Business, Law, or Engineering, you can apply for GRE if you have a bachelor’s degree in any domain from a recognized institute or university.
Criteria 4 – Gap year after Undergraduate degree
The gap years won’t affect your GRE eligibility. For some, they might be an advantage, giving them a buffer to prepare well for grad schools and work on their application. These years might also hamper the admission prospects if one is unable to justify them appropriately.
Criteria 5 – GRE Attempts
One can attempt the GRE 5 times in a rolling year.
Criteria 6 – For Physically handicapped
You can certainly apply for accommodations if you suffer from health-related issues or if you have any physical disability. This won’t make you ineligible for the GRE. You can apply through the ETS account, email, mail, or through courier services.
Criteria 7 – Nationality
To help students in the pandemic situation, ETS has launched GRE ‘at-home’ option. However, this option is not available in Mainland China and Iran. Hence, the students from these 2 regions need to wait for the testing centers to get reopened.
Criteria 8 – For GRE at-Home
For the at-home version, the tabletop arrangement is required and no other arrangements are allowed during the test. Also, the invigilator monitors you during the test.
Criteria 9 – For test center
