LATEST UPDATE
National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) has released the notification for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2026 on its official website. The last date to apply is 10 November 2025, the admit card will be issued on 26 November 2025, and the AILET 2026 exam will be conducted on 14 December 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Note: The last date for submission of the online application form is 30 April 2026 for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for candidates applying under the Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO category.

Registration: Candidates need to visit the official website of NLU Delhi
Filling up the AILET application form: Click on the “REGISTER” option. Fill out the AILET REGISTRATION FORM by entering your name, mobile number and email ID
Select the Law Course
1. The exam is conducted for undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in law, therefore, candidates need to select the course they are applying for.
2. For this candidates need to select the application form for – BA LLB (Hons), LLM, and PhD.
3. Upload Photograph, Signature & Certificates: Upload photographs, and signatures. After filling AILET application form, candidates will be asked to upload the scanned copies of their recent passport size photograph and specimen signature as per the given specifications.

COUNSELLING PROCEDURE & CUTOFFS
The AILET UG counselling is conducted online by NLU Delhi. Steps include:
Step 1: Counselling Registration
Shortlisted candidates must register for counselling on the NLU Delhi official portal.
Registration requires personal details, category information, and payment of counselling fee.
Step 2: Choice Filling
Candidates submit their preference for courses and programs (for UG, only BA LL.B. Hons. is applicable).
For foreign nationals / OCI / PIO candidates, a separate choice filling process is followed.
Step 3: Seat Allotment
Seats are allotted based on merit, category, and availability.
NLU Delhi publishes a first merit list, followed by second and third lists if seats remain vacant.
Step 4: Document Verification
Candidates must upload or present original documents:

AILET UG admission is strictly merit-based, and cutoffs depend on the total marks obtained in the exam and category of the candidate.

SELECTION PROCESS
The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) UG is conducted by National Law University Delhi for admission to the BA LL.B. (Hons.) program. The selection process is straightforward and completely merit-based.
- Online Registration and Application
Candidates must first register and submit the AILET UG application form on the official NLU Delhi website.

EXAM SYLLABUS
The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) UG syllabus for admission to BA LL.B. (Hons.) at National Law University Delhi is divided into three main sections: English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning.
The English section mainly tests reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitutions, sentence correction, para jumbles, and fill-in-the-blanks.
The Current Affairs and General Knowledge section focuses on recent national and international events, politics, government policies, Indian history and culture, geography, economics, science and technology, sports, awards, and important personalities.
The Logical Reasoning section evaluates analytical and reasoning ability through topics such as syllogisms, analogies, coding–decoding, number or alphabet series, blood relations, directions and distances, puzzles and seating arrangements, statement-assumption or conclusion questions, and pattern recognition.
The exam generally consists of 150 questions carrying 150 marks, with about 50 questions from English, 30 from GK and Current Affairs, and 70 from Logical Reasoning, and usually includes negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Importantly, unlike some other law entrance exams, legal aptitude and mathematics are not included in the AILET UG syllabus.

EXAM PATTERN
The AILET for UG programme will have three (3) sections of 150 multiple choice questions for 150 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes.
The three sections will be:
Section A: English Language (50 questions; 50 marks).
Section B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks).
Section C: Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks).
Legal principles may be used in the logical reasoning section to test logical aptitude but the examination will not require any kind of legal knowledge or technical understanding.

Mode of Examination:
AILET B.A.LL.B.(HONS.) Examination will be held as an Offline Pen-Paper based Test. Questions will be Objective type Multiple choice in nature.
Medium of Examination:
The exam paper for AILET Examination will be in English language.
Marking Scheme:
1. There will be Negative Marking in AILET 2025. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4 = 1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark.
2. If two or more candidates get the same marks at the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), their merit will be determined on the basis of higher marks in the section on LOGICAL REASONING in the AILET 2025.
3. If the merit is still same, then the candidate senior in age shall get preference. If still there is no change in merit, then computerized draw of lots shall be taken into consideration.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
National Law University, Delhi sets the AILET Eligibility for the exam. Candidates must check the AILET eligibility criteria in detail before filling the application form. It is important to check all the information about the eligibility to avoid the last stages of disqualification.
The candidate’s eligibility for AILET B.A.LL.B.(HONS.) Examination is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions:-

Nationality
1. Candidate must be a citizen of Indian.
2. All candidates, other than those applying under the Foreign Nationals category, should appear for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and selection shall be solely on that basis. The Foreign National and OCI/PIO candidates are also required to apply online on the same portal.
Age Limit & Relaxations
There is no specific age limit mentioned to apply for AILET Exam.
Educational Qualification:
1. Candidate have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent examination thereto securing in the aggregate not less than 45% of the total marks (42% in case of OBC’s and 40% for SC/ST/Person with Disability). The Eligibility condition for admission of students under the Foreign Nationals Category shall be 65% marks in the Higher Secondary School Examination of (10+2) system or an equivalent examination.
2. Candidates appearing/awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also apply and appear in the Entrance Test. However, the eligibility by such candidates shall have to be obtained by the cut-off date, which will be notified along with the Notification of Entrance Test result and in case such candidate is placed in compartment in the year of the admission, would be treated as ineligible.
3. The admission of foreign nationals shall be made based on satisfying the prescribed academic qualifications. The candidates who possess citizenship of a country other than India and hold valid passport shall be eligible to apply under this category. They are exempted from taking the admission test. The other regulations regarding the eligibility for admission will be the same as applicable to the other candidates.
4. The candidates belonging to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO) category may apply under the OCI/PIO category as well as under the category of Indian students separately (They have to submit the two different application forms i.e. one for India National and another for OCI/PIO category). In case the OCI/PIO candidates apply under the category of Indian National, they have to appear in the All Indian Law Entrance Test along with other Indian students.
5. The merit of the Foreign National and OCI/PIO Category will be drawn on the basis of percentage of marks in the qualifying exam.
6. The unfilled seats under Foreign National and OCI/PIO will be carried over to General Category and filled on AILET Merit.
7. Definition of Foreign Nationals: The candidates who possess citizenship of a country other than India and hold valid passport of foreign country.
8. Definition of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO): As notified by the Govt. of India.
IMPORTANT DATES
The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) UG important dates are announced by National Law University Delhi for admission to the BA LL.B. (Hons.) programme. For the AILET 2026 admission cycle, the exam notification was released in June–July 2025, and the online application process started on 7 August 2025.
The last date to submit the application form was around 10–13 November 2025, after which candidates could download the admit card in late November 2025. The AILET 2026 exam was conducted on 14 December 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in offline mode. After the exam, the provisional answer key was released in December 2025, followed by the final result and counselling process later in December 2025 for admission to the 2026–27 academic session.
