The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies will soon start the NMIMS Law Aptitude Test (NMIMS LAT or N-LAT) registrations on its official website. The application process for NMIMS LAT will be completely online, and interested candidates can register and submit their details through the NMIMS admissions portal. The NMIMS LAT is the entrance exam for admission to the five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons.) and BBA LLB (Hons.) programmes offered by NMIMS School of Law. The test is conducted as a computer-based online examination in two phases, allowing candidates to choose their preferred test windows and retakes. By qualifying in this exam, candidates can secure admissions at NMIMS Law campuses located in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Indore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Navi Mumbai, and Dhule. NMIMS is expected to release the application form for LAT tentatively in February, with the first phase of the exam scheduled from early March, and the second phase running into April and May.

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Law Aptitude Test (NMIMS LAT) will be conducted in two phases. The official NMIMS LAT  notification is expected to be released shortly, and it will announce the exam dates for both phases together. Candidates should note that the NMIMS LAT application process is likely to commence between December and January, and registrations will be carried out in online mode through the official NMIMS website.

PROGRAMS OFFERED

Through the NMIMS Law Aptitude Test, candidates are offered admission to five-year integrated undergraduate law programs. These include the BA LLB Honours program, which focuses on law along with humanities and social science subjects, and the BBA LLB Honours program, which combines legal education with business and management studies. Both programs are designed as full-time courses spread over ten semesters and are offered at NMIMS School of Law campuses.

Admissions through NMIMS LAT are offered at multiple NMIMS School of Law campuses across India. The major and most preferred campus is NMIMS School of Law, Mumbai, followed by campuses at Bengaluru, Indore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Navi Mumbai, and Dhule. All these campuses follow the same entrance exam but have different seat availability and cut-off levels.

TOTAL SEATS THROUGH NMIMS LAT

The total number of seats available through NMIMS LAT is distributed across all NMIMS law campuses and varies slightly each year. NMIMS Mumbai has the highest intake, with approximately one hundred and eighty seats combined for BA LLB Honours and BBA LLB Honours programs. Other campuses such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore, Chandigarh, Navi Mumbai, and Dhule generally offer around sixty seats per program per campus. Overall, NMIMS offers more than one thousand seats across all its law campuses through the NMIMS LAT exam.

HOW TO APPLY

The application process for NMIMS LAT is conducted completely in online mode through the official NMIMS admissions website. Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying.

STEP 1 ONLINE REGISTRATION

Candidates must visit the official NMIMS admissions portal and click on the NMIMS LAT 2026 registration link. New users need to create an account by providing basic details such as name, email address, mobile number, and date of birth. After successful registration, login credentials are generated.

STEP 2 LOGIN AND APPLICATION FORM FILLING

Using the registered login credentials, candidates must log in and access the NMIMS LAT 2026 application form. Candidates are required to enter personal details, academic information, contact details, and select the preferred law program and campus.

STEP 3 EXAM PHASE SELECTION

Candidates must select the preferred exam phase. NMIMS LAT is conducted in 2 phases, and candidates can choose to appear in 1 or both phases. If both phases are attempted, the best score is considered for admission.

STEP 4 UPLOAD DOCUMENTS

Candidates must upload scanned copies of required documents in the prescribed format. These usually include a recent passport-size photograph and signature. Candidates must ensure that all uploads are clear and as per the specifications mentioned in the application form.

STEP 5 APPLICATION FEE PAYMENT

After completing the form, candidates must pay the NMIMS LAT 2026 application fee in online mode using debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. The application is considered complete only after successful payment.

Candidates should carefully review all the details entered in the application form before final submission. After submission, a confirmation page is generated. Candidates are advised to download and save the confirmation page and fee receipt for future reference.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES

Candidates should use a valid and active email ID and mobile number, as all exam-related communication is sent through registered contact details. It is advisable to complete the application process well before the last date to avoid technical issues.

EXAM CENTERS

The NMIMS Law Aptitude Test is conducted in online computer-based mode at designated test centers across India. Candidates are required to select their preferred exam city while filling out the application form.

ADMIT CARD

After successful registration and application fee payment, NMIMS will issue the NMIMS LAT Admit Card online through the official exam portal. Candidates must log in using their registration credentials to download their admit card. It contains important information like exam date, test centre address, roll number, reporting time, and exam day instructions. Carrying the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the exam centre is mandatory, and candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam without them. The admit card is usually released a few days before the scheduled exam window, and exact dates will be announced in the official notification.

EXAM RESULT

Once the NMIMS LAT exam for each phase is completed, NMIMS releases the results and merit lists for that phase. For example, in NMIMS LAT 2025 Phase 1, the merit list was declared on 21st April 2025 on the official website after the exam window ended. For Phase 2 in 2025, the second merit list was released in June 2025. Candidates can access their individual results by logging in with their credentials on the portal. The result or merit list shows the candidate’s score and rank position for further admission processes.

COUNSELLING PROCESS & CUTOFFS

After the results and merit lists are published for each phase, qualified candidates are called for the NMIMS LAT counselling process. Counselling typically starts soon after the merit list announcement and involves document verification, confirmation of program/campus preference, and seat allocation. In earlier cycles (like 2025), counselling for Phase 1 was held soon after merit list publication, and Phase 2 counselling took place in late June when the Phase 2 list was released. Shortlisted candidates must report with original documents and complete all formalities within the notified timelines to secure their seats.

LAST YEAR CUTOFFS (NMIMS LAT / NLAT 2025)

Unlike exams with fixed marks cut-offs, NMIMS LAT uses merit lists based on scores to determine who qualifies for counselling and admission. Official cut-off marks are generally not published publicly in a fixed number like some other exams; instead, NMIMS releases merit ranks and lists based on candidate performance. For Phase 1 2025, the merit list was released after the exam window in April 2025 and only those in that list were eligible for counselling. The performance required to make the list depends on the pool of candidates and the exam difficulty in that cycle.

Because NMIMS does not release official numerical cutoff marks for LAT as widely as some other tests, data on specific cut-off scores for law admission (like a minimum score) is not directly available from official sources online. What is clear from how NMIMS conducts its admissions is that the best performing candidates in each phase’s merit lists are invited for counselling.

EXPECTED CUTOFFS FOR NMIMS LAT 2026

There is no confirmed official cutoff figure yet for NMIMS LAT. However, based on previous years’ merit-based admissions and trends, the following expectations are reasonable:

For law admission through NMIMS LAT, a competitive score that places a candidate high in the merit list is essential. In general:

Candidates who score well across all sections and fall in the top percentile among all test-takers in any given phase are most likely to be shortlisted.

Since the exam is merit-based, the number of seats available and candidate performance distribution will determine the effective cutoff line on the merit list.

Because NMIMS LAT does not publish public fixed cutoff scores by marks, the best indicator of expected performance is to aim for a very high score relative to other candidates.
