Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) has announced the IICD UG and PG  EXAM 2026 entrance exam. IICD UG and PG  exam will be conducted on 20 April 2026 and the date of declaration of exam result has been fixed as 15 May 2026. New sessions will start from July 2026.

PROGRAME OFFERED

For IICD Exam 2026, the institute offers Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Master of Design (M.Des), and a PG Diploma in Design Foundation programme. These courses are available across specialisations such as Fashion, Jewellery, Interior Design, Craft Communication, and Material Design, focusing on craft-based and contemporary design education.

  1. Bachelor of Design (B.Des)4-year undergraduate degree in Crafts & Design with specialisations including Hard Material Design, Soft Material Design, Fired Material Design, Fashion Clothing Design, Jewellery Design, Craft Communication, and Interior Design.

  2. Master of Design (M.Des)2-year postgraduate degree in Craft & Design with the same range of specialisations for advanced study after graduation.

  3. PG Diploma in Design Foundation1-year diploma for graduates from any discipline, often used as a foundation before entering the M.Des programme (“Design Foundation”).

TOP COLLEGES & SEATS

The Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD), Jaipur is a specialised design college in India focused on craft and design education. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas like soft materials, hard materials, fired materials, fashion design, jewellery design, craft communication and interior design. IICD is an autonomous institute established in 1997 under a public-private partnership and is affiliated with Vishvakarma Skills University.

For IICD 2026 admissions, the institute offers around 260 seats in total. This includes 180 seats for the B.Des programme, 60 seats for the M.Des programme, and 20 seats for the PG Diploma course. Seat allotment is done as per specialisation availability and reservation norms.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for the IICD 2026 entrance exam, candidates must register online through the official IICD website (iicd.ac.in or iicdadmissions.in), complete the application form with personal and academic details, upload the required documents, pay the application fee, and choose the desired programme, ensuring all eligibility criteria are met before the deadline.

Step 1: Firstly go to the official website of the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design. 

Step 2: On the homepage, candidates will find the option of applying for admission to the current session.  

Step 3: Register yourself as a new user by entering the required details.

Step 4: Then, verify the registered email address.

Step 5: Fill all the personal information as required in the application form. It will include your name, date of birth, gender, address and others.

Step 6: Proceed to enter the academic details that are further asked in the application form. Candidates are required to enter all valid details to avoid cancellation. 

Step 7: Then upload the scanned copies of the photograph, signature, and other documents as prescribed by the institution. 

Step 8: Candidates must also select their preference of exam centre and specialisation while filling out the form. 

Step 9: Double-check the details entered before submitting the application form. 

Step 10: The application fee is the final step of the application process. The payment can be made through an online payment mode like a debit card, a credit card, or net banking.

ADMIT CARD

The IICD 2026 admit card cum question paper will be released on the official IICD admissions portal from 5th April 2026 onwards for all registered candidates. You can download it online by logging in with your registration credentials; the admit card includes your details and the question paper.


Candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps to download admit card for the IICD exam :

Step 1- Visit the official website

Step 2- Click on ‘Admissions’. A new page will open.

Step 3- Click on the ‘Log In’ link. Enter your ID and Password.

Step 4- Your Admit card will be produced and displayed on your computer screen. Save it on your system.

Step 5- Take a printout of the admit card and preserve it for future reference.

EXAM RESULT

The IICD 2026 first-round result is scheduled to be announced on 15 May 2026. The second-round result is expected on 2 June 2026. These dates are officially set by the Indian Institute of Crafts & Design. You can view and download your result from the official IICD admissions website (iicd.ac.in) by logging in with your credentials once the results are published.

COUNSELLING PROCESS

The IICD 2026 counselling process begins after the declaration of entrance exam results. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list must register for counselling through the official IICD admissions portal within the given timeline. During counselling, candidates are required to verify original documents, including educational certificates, identity proof, category certificate (if applicable), and entrance exam credentials.

After document verification, candidates can choose their preferred programme and specialisation based on their merit rank and seat availability. Seats are allotted according to rank, category reservation norms, and candidate preferences. To confirm admission, selected candidates must pay the prescribed admission fee and complete all formalities within the stipulated time; failure to do so may result in seat cancellation and allotment to the next eligible candidate.

OVERVIEW

SELECTION PROCESS

1. The candidate has to opt for the specialisation while filling up the personal and other details in the online registration form, prior to entrance test.

2. The selection of the students for the specialisation will be on the basis of his/ her performance in the foundation semesters and the aptitude shown. The decision will be taken by a committee duly constituted by IICD.

Indian Institute of Crafts and Design does not specify any particular IICD entrance exam syllabus. However, IICD entrance exam question paper, portfolio submission and the personal interview round will aim at testing the following skills of aspirants:

Portfolio – It is advisable to bring a few samples of your creative work for display during the interview, to allow others to understand your capabilities. It could be anything that you have done by yourself. Sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, worked with material, or have written anything creative, narrative etc.



EXAM PATTERN

The IICD 2026 exam pattern consists of multiple stages, starting with General Awareness and Creativity & Perception (Part A), followed by Material, Color and Conceptual Tests (Part B), and ending with a Personal Interview (Part C). This structure evaluates a candidate’s design aptitude, material understanding, and conceptual thinking for admission to Indian Institute of Crafts and Design programmes.

The IICD exam will have three mandatory parts:

1. Part A  – General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Tes

2. Part B – Material, Color & Conceptual Test

3. Part C – Personal Interview

PART A: A question paper will be emailed to the registered candidates along with the Admit Card. The candidates will be required to answer the questions in Word file/ PDF file and submit the same along with the Portfolio as per the schedule given.

PART B: The portfolio should be a compilation of the candidate’s own creative work. Sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, models, explorations with materials, creative writing, etc. may be included in the portfolio. The criteria for evaluation will be: creative ability and skills, observations and perceptions, synthesis and visual interpretation, interest areas, etc. Specifications with regard to the portfolio submission will be conveyed through the email along with the Question Paper.

PART C: The personal interview will be conducted online. The schedule for the same will be intimated through the email. The interview panel will evaluate the individual personality along with the following attributes in the prospective candidates:

Medium Of Examination

The exam paper for IICD Examination will be in English language only.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates willing to apply for IICD Examination are required to fulfil certain conditions to be eligible for it. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification etc., their candidature shall be rejected by the authorities. The candidate’s eligibility for IICD Examination is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions:-

Note: Candidates who are appearing for their qualifying exam can also apply for the design entrance exam. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional subject to submitting the required eligibility certificates by the stipulated date mentioned by IICD. In case, any candidate fails to submit the required certificates by the stipulated date his/her admission at IICD will be cancelled. In such a scenario IICD admission fees paid by the candidate for the first semester will not be refunded, informs the official website.


Reservation Of Seats

The reservation policy is as per the UGC norms. Reservation percentages of different categories for admission in IICD are as follows: 27% for OBC, 15% for ST and 7.5% for SC and 3% for PH candidates. In case of insufficient applications from the reserved categories, the seats will be opened to the General category.
