LATEST UPDATE

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has opened the RRB Group D Apply Online 2026 (CEN 09/2025) process from 31st January on its official website. Candidates from across India can now apply online for over 22,195 Level-1 posts in Indian Railways under CEN No. 09/2025. According to the latest Group D recruitment schedule, the online registration window is open from 31st January and will remain available until 2nd March 2026. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) is tentatively scheduled for September – October 2026.

SALARY STRUCTURE

The posts in CEN No. 09/2025 (RRB/RRC Level-1 recruitment for various Group D posts like Track Maintainer-IV, Pointsman B, Assistant P.Way, Assistant Carriage & Wagon, Assistant (S&T), Assistant TRD, etc.) fall under Level-1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix.

Salary Structure (as per 7th CPC, current in 2026)

Pay Level: Level-1

Basic Pay (Starting/Initial): 18,000 per month (fixed entry point in the matrix)

Pay Scale Range (with increments): 18,000 to 56,900 (over years with annual increments and promotions)

Grade Pay: 1,800 (merged into the matrix under 7th CPC)

Allowances vary by city classification (X, Y, Z), posting location, and current rates.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications are submitted online only through the official centralized portal. The process is open from 31 January 2026 (00:00 hrs) to 2 March 2026 (23:59 hrs). Follow these steps carefully (as per official CEN Para 16.0 and reliable sources):


  1. Visit the Official Website: Go tohttps://rrbapply.gov.in(centralized RRB application portal). Do not use any other/fake sites to avoid fraud.

  2. Create an Account (if new): Click “Create an Account”. Enter your active mobile number, valid personal email ID, and basic details (name, DOB, etc.). Authenticate via Aadhaar/Digilocker (recommended for smoother process) or other ID. If you already have an account from previous CENs (2024/2025), use the same login credentials —no new account needed.

  3. Login and Select CEN: Log in with your credentials. SelectCEN 09/2025(Level-1 posts). Choose only one RRB/Railway Zone (e.g., RRB Allahabad/Prayagraj for NCR, since you’re in Lucknow). Indicate preferences for posts/categories you are eligible for (refer to Annexure-A & B in notification).

  4. Fill the Application Form: Complete personal details, educational qualifications, category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ExSM), etc. Uploadlive photo(captured during application — follow guidelines in Para 16.4), scanned signature (running handwriting), and mandatory documents (as per Para 16.5).

  5. Pay Application Fee(if applicable):

General/OBC: 500 (400 refundable after appearing in CBT).

SC/ST/Female/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Minorities/EBC: 250 (fully refundable after CBT).

Pay online via net banking, card, UPI, etc. Last date for fee payment: 4 March 2026 (23:59 hrs).


  1. Preview & Submit: Review all details carefully. Submit the application. Download/print the confirmation page and fee receipt for records.

  2. Modification Window(if needed): Correct minor errors (except account details/Chosen RRB) from5 March to 14 March 2026 by paying 250 modification fee per attempt.

  3. Scribe Details(if eligible PwBD): Provide scribe info between15 March to 19 March 2026.

ADMIT CARD

As per the official CEN 09/2025 notification, Admit cards (e-Call Letters) are not sent by post; candidates must download them from the official websites of the respective RRBs/RRCs. City and Date Intimations, e-Call Letters, and Travel Authority (if applicable) will be available via links on the official RRB websites (listed in Para 24.0 of the CEN). The CBT exam dates (and thus admit card release) will be intimated from time to time through the official RRB/RRC websites only.


How to Download Admit Card (When Released):

  1. Visit your chosen RRB’s official website (e.g., rrbald.gov.in for Allahabad/Prayagraj, etc.).
  2. Look for the link: “CEN 09/2025 – e-Call Letter / Admit Card for CBT” or similar.
  3. Login with yourRegistration Number/ User ID and Password / Date of Birth.
  4. Download and print the e-Call Letter (carry it to the exam with a valid photo ID).
  5. Check for City Intimation Slip first (released ~10-15 days before CBT).

EXAM RESULT

The official date for the RRB Group D Result 2026 has not been announced yet. However, based on previous years’ trends, the result is usually declared 2–3 months after the CBT exam. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official RRB websites for updates, as information related to the result, cut-off, and PET schedule is published there first.

How to Download Result (When Released)

  1. Visit the official RRB websiteof your respective region (e.g., rrbald.gov.in for Allahabad/Prayagraj, etc.).
  2. On the homepage, look for the link that says“RRB Group D Result”or “CEN Group D Result”.
  3. Click on the result linkfor the relevant exam cycle.
  4. The result will usually open as aPDF filecontaining roll numbers or registration numbers of qualified candidates.
  5. Download the PDFand save it on your device.
  6. UseCtrl + Fto search for your roll number or registration number in the result PDF.
  7. If your number is listed, you havequalified for the next stageof the selection process.

SELECTION PROCESS

The RRB Group D selection process is conducted in multiple stages, starting with a computer-based exam and followed by physical and medical tests to ensure suitability for railway duties.

Single stage Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 MCQs (90 minutes), negative marking 1/3, normalized if multi-shift.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying only (shortlisted 3x vacancies approx.); male: carry 35 kg/100m + run 1000m in 4:15 min; female: carry 20 kg/100m + run 1000m in 5:40 min (PwBD exempted).

Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted 1:1 ratio; original certificates checked.

Medical Examination: Final fitness check as per post’s standard (A-2/B-1 etc.); no alternative post if unfit.

Merit based on CBT score (normalized); final empanelment after clearing all stages.

No interview; unfair means lead to lifetime debarment.

The RRB Group D consists of a Computer-Based Test (100 MCQs, 100 marks, 90 minutes, 1/3 negative marking) covering Mathematics, General Science, Reasoning, and Current Affairs. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The RRB Group D eligibility criteria are determined based on nationality, educational qualification, and age limit. Only candidates who meet the prescribed RRB Group D eligibility requirements are eligible to participate in the recruitment process. As per the latest update for RRB Group D 2026, CCAA-certified candidates have also been declared eligible to apply for the Railway Group D CCAA Recruitment 2026.

Nationality

Candidates must be:

A citizen of India, or

A citizen of Nepal / Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

For non-Indian citizens (categories b-e), a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India is required.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

Normal Age Limit: 18 to 33 years (for UR/EWS candidates).

Revised / Relaxed Age Limit (one-time relaxation due to COVID-19 impact): 18 to 36 years (applicable to this CEN).

Candidates must be born not earlier than 02.01.1989 (for 33 years) or adjusted as per relaxation, and not later than 01.01.2008 (minimum age 18 years).

Date of birth must match exactly with the Matriculation/SSLC/10th certificate (or ITI/NAC for those with only that qualification). No change allowed later.

Educational Qualifications

Minimum Qualification (for all posts in this CEN):

10th pass (Matriculation / SSLC / High School or equivalent from a recognized Board),

ITI / equivalent,

National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

ITI is not mandatory for any post in this CEN (relaxed from previous requirements).

Course Completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway establishments (CCAA) are eligible for applicable vacancies (as per note in CEN).

Candidates must possess the qualification on or before the closing date (02.03.2026). Those awaiting final results are not eligible.

For posts requiring specific technical/IT qualification, refer to Annexure-A (Post Parameters table) in the CEN PDF – most Level-1 posts require only 10th pass or equivalent.

Name, father’s/mother’s name, and DOB must match 10th certificate (or ITI/NAC if that’s the only qualification).

Medical Standards

Candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness for the opted post(s) – no alternative appointment if unfit.

Standards vary by post

Most posts: A-2 / A-3 / B-1 / B-2 / C-1 / C-2 (vision, color blindness, physical fitness).

Common requirements: Good vision (without/with glasses), no color blindness for certain posts (e.g., TRD, S&T), physical endurance for field/outdoor jobs.

LASIK / corrective eye surgery: Self-declaration required (Annexure-VII) for A-2/A-3 posts.

Final medical exam by Railway Medical Authority after PET/DV.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Qualifying (not merit-based) – details in recruitment process
