National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), established in 1975, is India’s largest power generation company with operations across the entire energy value chain. NTPC invites applications from qualified and motivated diploma engineers for its coal mining projects located in Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Selected candidates undergo structured training and are later absorbed into regular positions based on their performance during the training period.

Salary Structure
Selected candidates undergo two years of training at NTPC coal mining sites and receive a stipend of ₹24,000 per month. After successful training, they are absorbed in W7 Grade with a basic pay of ₹24,000 along with applicable allowances.

Admit Card
Admit cards are released separately for each stage. Candidates can download them from the official NTPC website using their registration credentials and must carry a printed copy to the examination centre.
Exam Centres
Candidates must select their preferred test city during application. Centres are available across major cities in India, including states such as Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra, etc.), Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and others. NTPC reserves the right to add or remove centres depending on the number of applicants.

This section tests grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. Important topics include reading passages, cloze tests, spotting errors, sentence correction, para jumbles, idioms and phrases, commonly misspelled words, and one-word substitutions. NTPC DIPLOMA TRAINEE 2022 : EXAM PATTERN
The Stage I (Aptitude Test) of NTPC Diploma Trainee Examination shall be held as an Objective Type Online Computer Based Examination. It shall contain a total of 120 questions and 120 marks. The total time allotted is 120 minutes.

Note :- There is qualifying marks (40% marks in case of General/EWS category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates). There will be no weightage to online aptitude test in final selection.

Questions from above-mentioned sections are asked in NTPC Diploma Trainee Examination, where each question comprises 1 mark, thus summing up to 120 marks.
Marking Scheme Highlights
There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked by the candidates
1. One mark will be awarded for each correct answer
2. For each wrong answer marked, one fourth of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted from those obtained.
3. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions
