As per the latest information, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has been formed as the new authority to conduct the UPTET examination, replacing the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). The UPTET 2025 exam, which was earlier scheduled for 29–30 January 2026, has been postponed. The revised exam dates will be announced soon through the official notification. UPTET is only a qualifying examination and does not have fixed vacancies. Candidates who qualify become eligible to apply for teaching posts when recruitment notifications are released separately by the concerned authorities.

Salary Structure

As per the latest information, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has been designated as the new authority to conduct the UPTET examination, replacing the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). The UPTET exam that was earlier planned for 29–30 January 2026 has been postponed, and the revised dates will be announced soon through an official notification. Child Development and Pedagogy

According to recent announcements, the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has been established as the new conducting body for the UPTET exam, taking over from the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). The UPTET 2025 exam, originally scheduled for January 29-30, 2026, has been postponed, with new dates to be announced soon. UPTET Registration for the upcoming cycle will start on the official website once the revised notification is released. The previous major UPTET cycle (2021-22) notification was released on October 4, 2021, with applications from October 7 to October 27, 2021, and the exam held on January 23, 2022 (postponed from November 28, 2021, due to a reported paper leak).

EXAM PATTERN

 The UPTET examination is conducted in offline mode and consists of two papers: Paper I for Primary Level teachers (Classes 1 to 5) and Paper II for Upper Primary Level teachers (Classes 6 to 8). Each paper is of two hours and thirty minutes duration and contains a total of one hundred fifty multiple-choice questions. Each question carries one mark, and there is no negative marking in the examination.

For Paper I (Primary Level), the question paper includes five sections: Child Development and Pedagogy with thirty questions, Language I (Hindi) with thirty questions, Language II (English or Urdu or Sanskrit) with thirty questions, Mathematics with thirty questions, and Environmental Studies with thirty questions. The total number of questions is one hundred fifty, carrying a maximum of one hundred fifty marks.

For Paper II (Upper Primary Level), the paper includes Child Development and Pedagogy with thirty questions, Language I (Hindi) with thirty questions, Language II (English or Urdu or Sanskrit) with thirty questions, and one optional section. The optional section is either Mathematics and Science for candidates opting to teach these subjects or Social Studies for candidates opting to teach Social Studies. The optional section contains sixty questions. The total number of questions in Paper II is one hundred fifty, carrying a maximum of one hundred fifty marks.

To qualify the UPTET examination, candidates belonging to the General category must secure at least sixty percent marks, while candidates belonging to reserved categories are given relaxation as per government rules. Qualifying the exam makes candidates eligible to apply for teaching posts in government and aided schools of Uttar Pradesh.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

UPTET Eligibility Criteria is prescribed by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board for two levels:

Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8). Candidates must fulfill educational qualifications and age-related conditions as specified.

For Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5), the candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (Class 12) or equivalent with at least fifty percent marks and must have passed or be appearing in a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). Candidates who have completed graduation along with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education are also eligible.

For Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8), the candidate must be a graduate and should have passed or be appearing in a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or a one-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), or a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or a four-year BA or BSc Ed, or a one-year BEd (Special Education). Candidates with graduation and BEd qualification are commonly eligible for this level.

Regarding age criteria, there is no upper age limit prescribed for appearing in the UPTET examination. Any candidate who fulfills the educational qualifications can apply for the exam.

Candidates can apply for Paper IPaper II, or both papers, depending on their eligibility. Qualifying the UPTET does not guarantee a teaching job but makes candidates eligible to apply for teaching posts in government and aided schools of Uttar Pradesh. The UPTET eligibility certificate is valid for a lifetime, subject to government rules.
